futuristideas asked: hi i was wondering if you had or know were i can find the article of the Enterprise studio model at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum? Thank you
I found the photo at This Website and what I know about the beauty’s history at the smithsonian is:
- She was donated to the museum in ‘74
- She was restored by the renowned Ed Miarecki.
- She hung from their ceiling for about 25 years before she was taken down and given an x-ray examination and placed in a glass case in the museum store.
- As far as I know she’s still there. It seemed like a permanent installment.

Shuttlecraft Galileo during restoration at the Canton/Akron hangar. As of 2005, she was doing well, and residing Akron, Ohio. There has been a rumor circulating the internet that she was destroyed during a lot clearing. This seems doubtful, thankfully, due to a lack of evidence and the current owner’s anonymity. We hope she remains in good hands.
